Malaysia and Cambodia

Hello,

This is about my upcoming trip to Malaysia and Cambodia. The first part is pre-trip - information about flights, itineraries, accommodation and all the things that you need to do to plan an overseas holiday. This is my first trip to Asia and I hope it may help others. Comments are very welcome and anyone who has travelled to Malaysia and/or Cambodia, please feel free to comment and offer any advice or tips that you think would be helpful. As of today ( 28th February) , in exactly 11 days (minus 30 minutes) I will be in Kuala Lumpur.
Cheers.

I had the most amazing time and hope you enjoy reading about my trip. Each post is numbered and I'm doing them in order from start to finish - a little like a diary.

34. Foot Master Fish Spa

Above: Foot Master Fish Spa
One of the things I really wanted to do in Malaysia was have a fish spa. Foot Master Fish Spa is on the 6th floor in the Berjaya Time Square Shopping Mall in Bukit Bintang. I was led in (no booking required) and I was told my feet had to be washed. You put your foot over this bath, the man hoses your foot and lower leg, then squirts some type of soap/detergent then washes it off. This is repeated with the other foot. He explained about Garra Rufu Fish Spa (foot skin aqua bio-therapy treatment) - there are three tanks and you start off in the first one. There's around 500 fish per tank. These Turkish male "fish doctors" secrete Dithranol which is an enzyme that renews and repairs the dead skin area. Hesitantly dipping my feet in, not knowing what to expect, it doesn't hurt at all, but feels very strange and ticklish. The tickling feeling wears off after a few minutes and I was given a cup of Chinese Tea which was refreshing as you start to relax.

After some time you are led to the second tank and then the third. After this, a lady took me to one of the rooms and rubbed some lotion into the heel of my right foot, then scrubbed it off. She showed me and advised I have some hard skin removal I think it was - the cost of this is MYR78, (AUD$26) the fish spa costs MYR28, (AUD$9.30) making a total of MYR106, (AUD$35.30). I agreed to this and since it was very relaxing I fell asleep lying back. I do hope I didn't embarrass myself by snoring - Quelle horreur!

Foot Master also offer Ancient Traditional Acupressure therapy and have a range of products for sale. It was a most relaxing experience and I recommend it to anyone going to Kuala Lumpur.

It was great JM, I'm so glad I did it. And I definitely will have another when I'm able to go overseas again. If you go to Malaysia, do have one and let me know how it was.☺

Great to hear that you enjoyed the fish spa experience a lot.

I have only tried the one in Pavillion, named Kenko Reflexology & Fish Spa. Maybe you might want to try that instead next time.

I've also written a blog post about fish spa in Malaysia on my massage malaysia blog.
